Residencia en el Lava (2011)

“The modern artist is the one who chooses the subjects of his art from among the rubbish and rubble, from among the waste of the opulent capitalist society. There, in the garbage, the objects lose their identity, their function and their origin, they pick up the attributes that the new owner gives them and the proximity with other rubbish covers them with a new meaning, with a strange analogy, and often with a surprising expression”.

RESIDENCE IN EL LAVA (LABORATORY OF THE ARTS OF VALLADOLID) January 2011

The work developed during my residency at LAVA is articulated around issues that he considers to be of vital importance in a moment of change and transformation like the one we are experiencing: a moment of “TRANSIT” that is marking the beginning of a path that leaves things behind. of the past, from which we must get rid of in order to move towards a more sustainable, humane and conscious future.

The crisis is doing more than anything else, raising awareness about problems whose consequences we are already suffering. Given this panorama, a true questioning exercise is more necessary than ever, which leads to a necessary change towards sustainability.

In this context, the idea of creative reuse and recycling of all kinds of desired objects and materials ceases to be something of an argument, to become an increasingly widespread practice. Dissolving the line that separates the possible, the desirable,… from the real and necessary. Giving rise to a research process, around reuse and recycling at the service of a transdisciplinary creative process guided by Visual Thinking techniques applied to design and creative recycling.

The idea of Transit is implicit in all the pieces in different ways; Transit as change, as evolution… Transit also as a path to be followed, as a world of possibilities, which in the face of a new look is capable of giving each thing new life.
